Book Description

Jacob McCoy wishes for a wife and a family. Tis the Season for miracles when a young woman shows up on his doorstep: homeless, in danger and expecting a child - Jacob's child.

Their relationship is complicated by the fact that, A - they've never met before and B - she's a virgin. Jessie is determined not to be a burden to the McCoy family. As far as she's concerned, she is just passing through. Jacob has a different opinion - he wants Jessie in his life, in his bed and in his heart.

Review

Jacob, a man with a heart of gold and a rock hard body, was so damn likable. He was sweet and loving to everyone, so how could Jessie not fall head over heels in love with him.

Jessie, she's had a rough go in life. Her childhood was not a dream and her adult life was no breeze either. I'm glad she found her knight and life could finally turn around for her.

As for the plot, I read the story and my first thought was...."I hope sperm banks aren't really this disorganized. That's some crazy, messed up crap." As for the idea behind the story, I thought it was fresh. I don't recall ever reading a plot anything close to this one. Good job, Sable.

Author Showcase - Elaine Raco Chase

(A message from Elaine)
I write sassy, sexy, LOL contemporary romance novels. Often they start with "love at first sight". I was never sure of "love at first sight" until my dad told me he fell for my mom as he watched her chase her dog down the street! I told him that was the silliest thing I ever heard, they hadn't even said a word to each other. He winked and said "sometimes you just know"...they were married for 57 years. Hubby and I are headed for 43 years this October..he said it was "lust at first sight" - yeah! That works too!
So let's say "attraction" at first sight and then what reviewers call the "slow burn" are the core of my contemporary romantic comedies. Some more erotic than others, but all with characters that are so believable they've received fan mail!
I started my contemporary romance writing career in 1979 - long before eBooks were even a thought anyplace but in a science fiction novel! I was able to get my rights back to all my books and have been happily expanding, enhancing and updating most of my novels.

I'm hard at work updating, expanding and enhancing the rest of my romances - all were #1 bestsellers in print editions. All will be audio books as well.

While I'm known for my romantic comedies - I also have a best-selling mystery/thriller series that I'll be updating. Roman Cantrell - Nikki Holden made their debut in 1984 - Dangerous Places and then in 1985, Dark Corners. I'll be turning them into eBooks in the coming months as well and audio books too!
My non-fiction book: Writer's Digest Howdunit Series: A Writer's Guide to Writing the Amateur Detective Novel is still available and, I recently learned, is in the FBI Forensic Library in Quantico!

A writer never stops! I'm also working on book number 18...what I hope will be a 'blockbuster' mystery called: A Rare Medium Well Done featuring Dani Rossi, a sexy Atlanta lawyer with a lot of secrets to keep from handsome security specialist Mac Stewart. She does not keep secrets from her assistant and BFF Tucker - as he has more than his share of issues and friends that need her help.

Hope you'll check out my bestselling contemporary romance novels: SPECIAL DELIVERY, VIDEO VIXEN, DESIGNING WOMAN, CALCULATED RISK, DARE THE DEVIL, DOUBLE OCCUPANCY, LADY BE BAD, RULES OF THE GAME, CAUGHT IN A TRAP and BEST LAID PLANS - my updated woman's fiction novel- probably the very first chick-lit read (1983) and 'friends with benefits romantic comedy.

Whatever genre I write, my stories are funny, sarcastic, and loaded with fast-paced, bantering dialogue. My books feature confident, strong women - who have a wicked sense of humor and aren't really looking for a man - until the perfect one appears.

Genre: contemporary romance - erotica
Love this 5 star review for a blurb: "In Double Occupancy, Chase does well by her characters, giving them room in their close-quartered villa to really express themselves and draw the reader into their love story. Their witty banter will have you laughing but their hot and steamy moments will have you begging for more. By isolating her hero and heroine like this, Chase has given the reader the chance to indulge in a R&R too, focusing on the budding relationship between Travis and Casey. Get lost in this story as though you’re resting up in the villa for yourself… I found it pretty hard to put this one down and climb back into the real world, myself! XXX for some smokin’ hot lovin’ and some pretty explicit word choices ahem, Travis." Read why Travis & Casey have been on THE LIST – FB's Top 50 Books to read after 50 Shades of Grey for 20 weeks

Interview with Elaine Raco Chase

Welcome, Elaine Raco Chase.

1. For those who might not be familiar with you, would you be a dear and tell the reader’s a little about yourself? How you got your start in the writing business?

First, thank you so much for hosting me! It's always wonderful to meet other authors and fans.
I started writing for radio/TV – was asked to write for a pilot show called Saturday Night Live – I lasted 5 days! It's tough being the only one not on drugs or alcohol (besides I had just finished doing PR for the Narcotic Addiction Control Commission) but the NYC restaurants were fantastic!
I then began working on mystery and romance novels and was lucky to meet an agent at a writer's conference.  She took my manuscript and sold it to Dell Publishing for their new Ecstasy Romance line and things took off.  All my books were #1 bestsellers on assorted lists, published in 24 countries and 17 languages, with over 4 million books in print, during what was called the heyday of romance – 1980's. I also wrote for Avon, Silhouette. My mystery series hit big in 1985 for Bantam and started the sexy romantic comedy mystery craze.
Unfortunately, I was hit big then too – by a drunk driver – everything but my nose was broken/twisted/mangled and I was in a coma for 10 hours. Lots of rehab, some permanent vision damage. Writing career – ground to a halt.
I started writing again, with a non-fiction book 1996 How To Write The Amateur Detective Novel with co-author, Anne Wingate. It was part of the Writer's Digest Howdunit Series and nominated for the Agatha Christie Award for best non-fiction  – and is in the FBI Forensic library at Quantico.
Computers made writing easier and I was able to get all my rights back to my romance novels.  Two I have left as classics: No Easy Way Out and One Way or Another – they are time capsules and according to new reviewers, very well received.
My other romances have been almost totally re-written, updated, enhanced, with new characters/plot points added. Why? Because writing romance was restricted when they were written. An author couldn't type those words (LOL) and be that explicit, and we were all writing to a word count.
Now – wow, the freedom to enhance characters, their backgrounds, their sexual encounters…that's the joy of indie publishing – freedom.  So the rest of my eBook romance novels are totally different from the print published versions. All are erotic romantic comedies with alpha males who are totally done in by women who really don't need them.
Since I come from a background of writing for radio/TV, my novels are heavy on dialogue – they were very easy to turn into audio books – there are 6 out now, all on assorted audibl.com and iTunes bestseller's lists. They are all fast-paced, funny, erotic romantic comedies.  So I hope you'll take a look!

2.  All writers fear the dreaded “block”. Please tell us how you handle it.

Does it help to say I once hung 12 rolls of wallpaper because I was completely blocked for an ending? I usually do all things physical: wash a car, a floor, scrub a kitchen, a bathroom – when I had a house I took over mowing the lawn! Anything that doesn't require too much thought but will physically let me sweat out the block. It's worked!

3. Contrary to what some people envision about a romance writer’s life, it’s not all glitz and glamor. Well not for the majority of us. With that bubble sadly busted, when you’re not writing, how to do you spend your time?

You mean I bought all those fake jewels, chiffon and feather boas for --- nothing! LOL!  I teach. I've been teaching for many years, sometimes the local school has me subbing for a week into an English class (grades 3-9) to ignite students interests in creative writing. The boys especially love to create comic book characters and then the story – the girls seem to be still focused on vampires! I also teach college level creative writing to adults – just did a 2 year stint at Miami-Dade College while I was down in Florida – now that I'm back in northern Virginia – my students refused to let me go – so I've been teaching online classes.

4. I know many writers, such as Dirk and myself, keep their pastime/career a secret. Do those close to you know you write? If so, what are their thoughts?

It's funny, I'm pretty low-keyed about it. When my kids were younger, it was hard on them because everyone (parents/other kids) equaled romance to porn. So I kept pretty quiet about what I wrote and so did they. Now – since 50 Shades of Grey, everyone asks "do you have a special, you know, room?" (We live in a, you know, two bedroom apartment so no) and of course, all my relatives never read me…the usual: "I never read" "I don't have an e-reader" "I don't even have time to read a newspaper."

5. Will you share with us your all time favorite authors? If you’re like me, it’s a long list so give us your top ten.

Well surprising enough they would all be mystery authors! I cut my teeth on mystery writing, have a series that will be coming to eBooks and I was thrilled over the years to have met: Mickey Spillane, Elizabeth Peters, Carolyn Hart, Sue Grafton, and Sara Paretsky- Sara started Sisters in Crime and I was International President in 1995-96. For romance writers Janelle Taylor and I have been friends since forever! Love so many others.

6. If you could choose one book to go to the big screen, which book would you choose and whom would you love see casted in the parts?

Well…I'd love to see Double Occupancy become a Lifetime TV movie! It features just two people in a Mexican villa – who are thrown together because of a vacation 'mistake.' What starts out as 'sharing a college dorm' turns into one erotic romantic comedy. Now as for the cast: I think Jennifer Lopez would be perfect as Casey (they have the same "perky ass according to Travis!" and Alex O'Loughlin with a bit of stubble would be perfect alpha male Travis. Yes, I know they did a movie together before – I thought there was chemistry!

7. Would you care to tell us what you’re working on now? That is if it’s not top-secret information. If so, just whisper it in my ear. I swear it’ll go no further.

Whisper – hell, you can shout it!  I'm finishing up a new erotic romantic comedy called: Caught in a Trap. Meet Kit Forrester, she went on the cruise of her dreams only to have it turn into her own personal Titanic! But she couldn't tell her friends that! So she invented her own fish story: the hunky man of her dreams by her side, day and night, under the stars. Problem was: He showed up! And was more than ready to stake a claim!

8. Where can we find your stories and is there a particular reading order?

No, all my novels are stand-alone, save for the mystery series, but that's not out yet.  But all my romances are on Amazon, Nook, Smashwords, Kobo, AllRomance, iTunes  just about everyplace eBooks are sold.

9. Would you please share how your present and future fans can contact you?

Interview with London Saint James

Welcome, London Saint James.

1. For those who might not be familiar with you, would you be a dear and tell the reader’s a little about yourself? How you got your start in the writing business?

Actually, as a child I playacted out all the stories that were running around in my head! I’m one of those people who as soon as I learned how to write, always scribbled down stories. I wrote and stopped. Wrote and stopped. You know, had to do the sensible thing as I got older. I went to college, got a job, did all those sensible things, but I always came back to writing/scribbling. A couple years ago, I became more serious about trying to get published, and I started to research publishing companies. I’d written a short story, Mistake, with a BDSM twist, so when I saw a submission call for a BDSM anthology called Master of Mine from Evernight Publishing, I decided to submit it. I figured what’s the worst thing that could happen? Being told, “You suck as a writer.” I prepared for the worst, but thankfully that didn’t happen.  Evernight liked my submission, and offered me a place in the anthology. From there I’ve been writing as fast as my brain can think and my fingers can type. *Smiles*

2.  All writers fear the dreaded “block”. Please tell us how you handle it.

Eat lots and lots of chocolate! LOL. So far I suppose I’m lucky. I’ve had a few “bad days,” where I’m just not in the mood to write, but for the most part, I have so many characters dying to tell their stories that I haven’t had to deal with any type of major block.

3. Contrary to what some people envision about a romance writer’s life, it’s not all glitz and glamor. Well not for the majority of us. With that bubble sadly busted, when you’re not writing, how to do you spend your time?

You are so right! No glitz. I’d love to say I lounge on white sandy beaches with my toes in the sand, while a fine piece of man candy feeds me grapes, but…I’m fairly sure I’m boring. I do try to spend time with family and friends as much as I can. I love to read, listen to music, and watch a good movie.  Of course I squeeze all that in between the thrill of laundry, shopping for food, and other fascinating things like putting gas in my car, and getting the cat groomed.

4. I know many writers, such as Dirk and myself, keep their pastime/career a secret. Do those close to you know you write? If so, what are their thoughts?

Those closest to me know I’m a writer, and are very supportive, but many don’t know I write. I like the freedom the anonymity brings, and I write for the joy of it.

5. Will you share with us your all time favorite authors? If you’re like me, it’s a long list so give us your top ten.

This is a hard one because it is a very long list. I’ll give it a stab. Megan Hart, Sherrilyn Kenyon, Charlaine Harris, Karyn Gerrard, Gena Showalter, Stacey Espino, Lorraine Nelson, Sarah McCarty, Victoria Dahl, and Julia London. I could go on and on, and on.

6. If you could choose one book to go to the big screen, yours or otherwise, which book would you choose and whom would you love see casted in the parts?

I’ve always thought that Sherrilyn Kenyon’s Dark Hunter Books (any of them) would make a great movie for the big screen. I’m not sure who all to cast, but sexy-bad-ass would need to be the main thing when casting any of the Dark Hunters, like perhaps the actor in the new Conan the Barbarian, Jason Momoa.

7. Would you care to tell us what you’re working on now? That is if it’s not top-secret information. If so, just whisper it in my ear. I swear it’ll go no further.

I’m working on several projects, and don’t know which one will be completed first. I have a couple of erotic contemporary romance stories I’m working on.  The working titles are: A Thin Line, and Law of Attraction. A BDSM with the working title of, A Whisper of Silk, and even a historical romance called, The Sinner Inside Mississippi.

8. Where can we find your stories and is there a particular reading order?

You can visit my website: www.londonsaintjames.com to check out books/links, but all are on Amazon, ARe, BookStrand, Barnes & Noble, etc.

Series from Evernight Publishing in order are:

Enchanted (The Heart Of Winter, 1)
Requiem (The Heart Of Winter, 2)
Revelation (The Heart Of Winter, 3)
Eternal (The Heart Of Winter, 4)

The Good Sister: Part One
The Good Sister: Part Two

Dark Tales Diaries: Volume 1

All my other titles are part of a special line, or anthology and can be read in no particular order.

9. Would you please share how your present and future fans can contact you?

They can email me at: London@londonsaintjames.com
Or they can find me at:

10. Before we wrap up this enlightening interview, do you have anything else you’d like to share? The stage is all yours.

Well, I think I’ve probably prattled on enough. It was totally awesome being able to “talk” with you. Thanks so much for having me over to visit.  It has been a blast.

There you have it, ladies and gents. I want to again thank London Saint James for stopping by and I look forward to the next time we can visit together. Oh and London, if I remember correctly, SK said the Dark Hunters' series was picked up. I can't wait to see who they select as Acheron and Simi. :)

Sunday's Thoughts on "Merry Christmas, Alex Cross" - James Patterson

Amazon - Hardcover Link

Book Description:
It's Christmas Eve and Detective Alex Cross has been called out to catch someone who's robbing his church's poor box. That mission behind him, Alex returns home to celebrate with Bree, Nana, and his children. The tree decorating is barely underway before his phone rings again--a horrific hostage situation is quickly spiraling out of control. Away from his own family on the most precious of days, Alex calls upon every ounce of his training, creativity, and daring to save another family. Alex risks everything--and he may not make it back alive on this most sacred of family days. Alex Cross is a hero for our time, and never more so than in this story of family, action, and the deepest moral choices. MERRY CHRISTMAS, ALEX CROSS will be a holiday classic for years to come.

Review:
Once again, James packed a lot of action and suspense into 300+ pages. In the first section of this holiday story, Alex was called to a hostage situation involving a strung out and guilt-ridden dad who was terrorizing his children, ex-wife, her new husband, and a neighbor. There was blood shed but thankfully, no child was physically harmed. Mentally though, they won't be healing anytime soon which as a parent, broke my heart. I hate to see children in any sort of pain.

In the next two sections, Alex once again took on Hala. You might recognize the terrorist name from "Kill Alex Cross". I won't divulge what sinister plot her and her comrades have orchestrated but I will say unorthodox methods were used to thwart their plans. Even Alex couldn't believe the means taken to gain entail.

Mark your calendars - "Alex Cross, Run" comes out February 18, 2013.

Heart rating system - 1 (lowest) and 5 (highest) Score: ❤❤❤❤
